University of the Cordilleras’ Brief History
Formerly known as Baguio Colleges, University of the Cordilleras was founded by Attorney Benjamin R. Salvosa on June 19, 1946. The school only offered few undergraduate programs in its first few years. When Baguio Colleges became an educational foundation in 1966, it opened new colleges and bachelor degree programs. The improvements in the university became rapid when its founder decided to assume presidency in the institution in 1994. Since then, new courses and curriculums were added to the Baguio Colleges, until in November 22, 2003 when the institution changed its name to University of the Cordilleras.

The school has 10 colleges and a laboratory school. The colleges include College of Information Technology and Computing Sciences, College of Accountancy, College of Arts and Sciences and College of Criminal Justice Education. Some of the undergraduate degree programs available at the university are Bachelor of Science Major in Architecture, Bachelor of Science in Nursing and Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education.
